The worldwide online ticket scam that hit the 2008 Beijing Olympics in China was widely reported in media around the world. Fans, including relatives and friends of athletes, paid up to £30,000 for non-existent tickets from a fake website that purported to sell high value tickets. The IFW Executive Director, Ken Gamble came under the international media spotlight when he revealed the identity of those responsible on the front page of Australia’s leading newspaper, The Sydney Morning Herald in August 2008. Mr. Gamble then provided an extensive dossier to British authorities who have since arrested several people and now charged them with various offences, including money laudering . This ticket scam was widely reported as one of the largest in history with victims in 60 countries around the world.
